Professional contractors require professional products.  While rock salt is sold by several suppliers, sodium chloride in liquid form is rare. 

Liquid ice melters have been around for several years but not widely used in many parts of the country.  Liquids have been used very successfully on the east coast and in the mountains of Colorado for years.  They have also been used widely by state, county, and municipal DOT's, they are just now being implemented by private contractors, school systems, hospitals, and homeowners.  Liquids are best used in three ways: 

1)  anti-icing which is a precautionary process which acts as a Teflon coating keeping the ice and snow from bonding to the pavement as vehicles drive over it. 

2) pre-wetting rock salt before it hits the ground.  All ice melters need to be convereted to a liquid brine in order for it to melt snow and ice.  By adding some liquid to the rock salt (pre-wetting) it jump starts the melting process on colder days reducing the amount of salt needed to do the job. 

3) de-icing which is a reactionary process is similar to using rock salt to melt snow and ice that is already on the ground.   

Using liquid ice melters requires an investment in equipment and training to apply it correctly.  We offer training for those individuals interested in learning more about the products we sell and their implementation into a professional snow and ice management program.
